In the process of attaching your library’s copies to existing brief bibs, particularly vendor records, you find that although the ISBN is a match, the title is not. In fact, sometimes the title is completely different. What is the best approach?
Please DO go ahead and attach your library’s copy to the bib record. Follow up by faxing or sending via delivery an OCLN Database Correction Request form that includes photocopies of the title page and verso. This process allows the brief record to be corrected and upgraded to MARC in one complete step.
Vendor records with no libraries attached cannot be upgraded to MARC. Waiting for a brief record to be corrected and then waiting again for it to be upgraded to MARC is a less efficient workflow for all of us.
As always, any questions or problems may be addressed further by opening a Help Desk Ticket.
